Dog Days Of Summer

Many who compete in AKC Retriever Field Trials dream of the day that they may qualify their retriever for the National Amateur Retriever Championship. This 2015 NARC located in Ronan, MT is host to 130 handler and retriever teams, a larger than normal number of contestants. No worries, Montana provides many hours of daylight for the competition to unfold, as the sun will rise at 5:37 am and set at 9:34 pm. The preparation for each days competition will begin in the early hours of the morning and last well into the evenings. Hundreds of volunteers who flock from around the country will be working tirelessly to make sure the event runs smooth, all are safe, and most of all everyone has fun! So take the time to THANK those who have graciously given their time to help preserve this wonderful sport. A sport in which all are privileged to witness the remarkable tests these retrievers are able to perform. Good Luck to all!!! May this be the best NARC yet!!!

Test Procedures

Gun Changes every twenty dogs to include the Test Dog. No dog will start any test after 8:00 P.M. Handler on the mat for all marks. Dog required to be on the mat for all Blinds. No-Bird you will skip five dogs to be the sixth running dog, 2nd No-Bird "same procedure", 3rd No-Bird move to the end. If you have a No-Bird and there is a split test you will back to the regular running order for the next day.

On Sunday 6/14/15 at 5:30 am from a location on Seventh St. where the caravan will line up. It will be well-marked.

Kate Simonds - closed with a poignant story regarding the sport and how it is up to us (the contestents) to carry the torch in the direction we would like to see AKC Retriever Field Trials.

Commented that we have had a quiet year and there was not much to talk about.

The one and only subject to comment on is the use of the 

DOW in the minor stakes.

At this time the floor was open for public comment.

Bill Totten suggested standardized rotation. In order, to prevent a dog from running first in the last two series.

Alex Washburn was in support of the use of the DOW in the minor stakes.

Margie Mize commented the use of the DOW would be difficult for those to get dogs back and fourth.

Bill Goldstein commented in favor of the use of the DOW.

Leigh Larsen commented against the use of the DOW.

John Caire commented in favor of the use of the DOW.

Doug Lundgren - 

Alice Woodyard asked to have the use of the rotation in the minor stakes for clarification.

Jerry Mann - as long as the club previously states no dog shall run first more than once in one trial. Jerry commented that the committees have the ability to make discretionary decisions in order to expedite the running of the field trial.
